Miss Frizzle and Mary Poppins, Lady Time Lords.
I ship it to the moon.
The Teacher and The Nanny. The Magic School Bus is a TARDIS, and Mary’s bag is bigger on the inside. No one will ever convince me that this is not true. Oh, and I ship it.
For crying out loud, the Magic School Bus actually does travel through time and space, easily changes it’s form like a Chameleon Circuit, and is casually ALIVE in certain ways. It’s a friggin’ TARDIS in all but name!
I will reblog this every time I see it
This specifically refers to a hand striking the side of a person’s face, tells quite a different story when placed in it’s proper historical context. In Jesus’s time, striking someone of a lower class ( a servant) with the back of the hand was used to assert authority and dominance. If the persecuted person “turned the other cheek,” the discipliner was faced with a dilemma. The left hand was used for unclean purposes, so a back-hand strike on the opposite cheek would not be performed. Another alternative would be a slap with the open hand as a challenge or to punch the person, but this was seen as a statement of equality. Thus, by turning the other cheek the persecuted was in effect putting an end to the behavior or if the slapping continued the person would lawfully be deemed equal and have to be released as a servant/slave.
THAT makes a lot more sense, now, thank you.
voting against gay marriage is like ordering a piece of cake at a restaurant and having a complete stranger be like “waiter, cancel that cake”
"waiter cancel that cake it’s ruining my cake and i don’t know how to explain it to my children"
"my dietbook said I can’t have cake so throw that guy’s cake away too."
Rear Admiral Grace Hopper would have been 107 today, and is being honored with a great Google Doodle. It’s quite literally impossible for us to imagine, as we sit here reading about her on the internet, but people used to use things like paper and pencils and chalk and slide rules to solve (and often not solve) complicated problems. Grace Hopper quite simply helped usher in the modern age, her impact, I think, is no less than the steam engine or the cotton gin.
Some awesome stuff she did: Grace Hopper developed first compiler, allowing computer calculations to move beyond simple arithmetic and into more complex problems. She also developed first standardized computer language, COBOL, which laid the groundwork for all the languages we use today.
One day she found a dead moth disrupting one of the electronic relays in the Mark 1 computer, and upon removing it (and fixing the computer), the term “debugging" was born. Here’s her daily log from that day, with the offending moth taped to the page:
Beyond that, she was a charming scientific communicator, and she possessed a marvelous ability to make people, and mind you this was in a time when almost no one owned their own computer, truly appreciate both the importance and the complexity of computing technology.
She famously carried around a bundle of nanoseconds in her purse for illustrative purposes. Here she is charming the socks off of David Letterman, and giving him a nanosecond of his very own (don’t miss the picosecond joke, either).
wow THIS THO
Someday, I hope to actually laugh at these comics.
but seriously fuck people who think our generation had everything handed to us. we may not be first generation college students, but we’re paying double/triple what you paid for an education of more questionable quality. i’m not saying we don’t have it better, but we’re not as lazy as you think.
Not to mention the minimum wage has very much not kept pace with inflation/general costs…
This generation is the victim of a terrible debt that was passed down from the previous generation to us, and chances are, we won’t see it through to the end. The least the previous generation could do is not rub it all over our faces.
Hypocritical adult assholes are pretty much the only thing in life that make me madder than hell. My family members are the worst offenders, I’ve found, and they just expect the younger generation now to pick up all the slack that they’ve left us with.
They brought us into this world with a national debt crisis hanging over our heads, which has now gone into effect for as long as I can remember, and they just expect by saying this kind of stuff that we’ll “get off our lazy asses and fix it”…
IT AIN’T THAT EASY
No but because we have iPhones we’re just spoiled lazy fucks don’t you know.
Boys’ Night by Max Landis and AP Quatch
what the fuck this was so good
This is a really great comic, please read it.
THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD.
I already plugged this over at my art tumblr, but seriously, if you haven’t read this, it’s amazing. It’s like 28 pages and has more characterization and subtext and implied backstory than I can imagine cramming into a comic twice this length.
I read “Boys’ Night” about a month ago and still can’t stop thinking about it, especially the last 6 or so pages.
I did my best to make this slideshow amusing, but also genuinely informative for people who were curious about D&D.
If you enjoyed this slideshow and you ship Johnlock, you might want to read On The Ice, which goes into greater detail about how an actual gaming session proceeds, and also features plenty of smut.

what a powerful image
This is one of my favorite images on tumblr because the point could have gotten across just as well by itself but someone had to slap the text on it and scream “DO YOU GET IT? IT’S THE MEDIA, OKAY?”
