I can say that I haven’t been a hard worker all my life. There are times that I have been lazy, lethargic, unmotivated, and apathetic.
I can say that sometimes, those feelings are my only feelings.
I could blame it on my depression, on the unrealistic expectations of society, my teachers, my parents, Obama, immigrants, The Illuminati, my friends, my family, my lot in life.
I could just blame someone else, but I won’t.
If I gave up responsibility for myself, then I give up power over myself.
I give up my freedoms, my talents, my passions
I am not perfect but I am not flawed beyond function.
I’m a smart person who forgets that they are a smart person.
I’m a hard worker who forgets that large obstacles are chipped away one brick at a time.
I’m a patient person who forgets that things take time.
I’m a compassionate person who forgets to love herself as much as she cares for others.
I’m a good person. A smart, kind, funny kid who is worthy of people’s time and attention.
I am my problem and I am my solution.
I just have to act like it.
